Jamaican DJ and dancehall sensation “Assassin” Agent Sasco — born Jeffrey Campbell — delivered a distinct performance to the huge crowd that gathered inside Harare Gardens on Saturday.

The DJ got an energetic introduction from emcees Templeman and DJ Smiley and set the tone for the concert just five minutes into his act.

Assassin sent a blazing trail into his fans with his first piece Drink&Merry saluting his fans and promising a polished show before handing out his lively performance.

“This is my first time being in Zimbabwe and Africa and I will not disappoint.

“I am the ‘Assassin’ and that is exactly my mission,” he said.

Assassin’s inspiring talk and vibrant vocals kept the crowd on their feet as he belted his hits including Something’s Got (City Life Riddim), Nothing At All (Pepper Riddim) and Same Ting Again.

Excitement, however, crept up with one fan who jumped onto the stage snatching Assassin’s shades, and breaking them before throwing them back at his face.

This did not in any way deter Assassin’s act, as he kept the fans rocking to some of his best sounds. Besides that man-of-the-moment Winky D was absent, dancehall pioneer, Sniper Storm of the Love Yemusoja fame together with Guspy Warrior, gave fans a value for their money.

Clad in his general army regalia, Sniper Storm lived up to his nickname “The General”.

Lady Squanda, the only performing female artist at the concert, also gave dancehall artist Badman a run for his money proving to be lyrically apt.

Reggae crooner Mic Inity made a surprise appearance on stage performing alongside Guspy Warrior.

After the “tune-for-tune” contest, it was amazing to see all the artists back on stage performing their joint song titled Dancehall Champions. Clint Robinson director of C&A Entertainment said he was satisfied with the concert.

“Trust me, since hosting Elephant Man last year, I rate this show my second best.

“I just loved the performance and how it proceeded. I have to also say thumbs up to our local artists for staging polished acts.

“They have been consistent and wonderful in terms of raising the country’s flag and certainly this will help them to market themselves internationally,” added Robinson.
