CHINHOYI — Dendera musician Tryson Chimbetu has called on youths to register as voters for them to exercise their democratic right to elect political leaders of their choice.

Speaking on the sidelines of voter registration roadshow Real SWAG Is My Vote — organised by the Centre for Youth Empowerment and Development Trust (CYEDT) in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Youth Council in Chinhoyi over the weekend — Chimbetu (24) said: “The new generation of prospective voters should come out in full force to register to vote.

“It has been noted there has been apathy among the youths, but this time around they should exercise their democratic right to elect future leaders to ensure the country’s economic prosperity and political stability.”

The show was aimed at encouraging youths to ensure their names appeared on the voters’ roll for them to participate in future elections.

“The message should be loud and clear to the youths that it is their right to go and register to vote,” CYEDT co-ordinator Henry Muwungani said.

Chimbetu, Freeman of Joina City fame and Lady Squanda, among other local artistes, wowed the crowd during the roadshow.
