MUTARE-based cultural group Bembera Arts Ensamble walked away with a $500 prize money after clinching the Chibuku Neshamwari Dance Festival in Chipinge on Saturday.

The talented group will now represent the eastern border district at the national finals slated for September.

For its efforts, the group received $500 for claiming the pole spot while Chipinge Prisons did not disappoint on their home turf coming second to receive $300.

Seven groups participated in the contest. Taurai Moyo, co-director of Bembera Arts Ensamble, attributed their victory to hard work.

“l am happy to have won the event. Since we formed our group last year we have been working very hard and today we have been rewarded. We are going to continue with our momentum at the national finals and I am confident that we will come up with good results,’’ he said.

Danmore Hlerena, who hosted the event was ecstatic and said in future he hoped to host more such events.

“Such events can also put Chipinge on the map and I am actually happy that the event went well,” he said.
