Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs Caps United and Hwange clash at Gwanzura Stadium as they seek to bounce back to winning ways.

The former champions, who have a seemingly resurgent former Warriors striker Shingi Kawondera, lost 1-0 to Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium last Sunday while Hwange were thumped 3-0 at the Colliery by Gunners.

Caps, coached by Sean Connor, lie in eighth position with 19 points, while Hwange are two points behind but in 11th position, having succumbed to their sixth loss of the season.

A difference of 24 points is what separates Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leaders Highlanders and Quelaton.

And as the two teams meet at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow, one would say its a complete mismatch.

Its a game where the leaders are not expected to lose; its a game where Highlanders, with their new mission statement from coach Kelvin Kaindu it shall be well are expected to extend their unbeaten run to 14 matches.

Quelaton coach Philani Ncube does not want to discuss relegation, but has respect for Highlanders as a team playing good football.

All I can say is that I respect Highlanders. They are performing well at the moment and they are getting the points that they need. If we are going to get a point or win the match, we would have to be at our best.

However, the team that I have had in the past four matches has not changed, he said.

Ncube has often lamented over the lack of depth and maturity in his team which is full of young players. In a previous interview with NewsDay Sport, he said without the right material the team would not survive.

Highlanders coach Kaindu said the fact that Quelaton were in the Premier League showed that they were a good side.

We take every game as it comes. Quelaton are a good side because if they were not they would not be in the Premier League. It will probably be one of the most difficult matches because they are at the bottom of the log and we are at the top, he said. Highlanders last won the league title in 2006 and their worst season was last year when they finished seventh on the log.

Some of the players that are expected to feature in the Quelaton match include veteran midfielder Mthulisi Maphosa, Peter Moyo, Milton Ncube, Masimba Mambare, defenders Innocent Mapuranga, Bruce Kangwa and Erick Mudzingwa.

Graham Ncube, who has scored five goals this season, has not been lucky in recent weeks and needs apparently easy matches like this to break his duck.

But Highlanders would be aware that in 2006, when they last won the league title under Methembe Ndlovu, it was unheralded outfit Buymore who broke their 12-match winning streak with a 1-0 win at Barbourfields. From the 11 players, they fielded on the day, Buymore only had James Matola as a recognisable name.
