Motor Action……….. (0) 1 Shabanie Mine…….. (0) 1 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leading goal scorer Nelson Mazivisa converted a stoppage time penalty as Shabanie Mine forced a draw against dominant Motor Action side at Motor Action Sports Club in Harare yesterday.

The hosts got their goal in the 66th minute when lanky defender Morris Kadzola powered home an unstoppable header from a Thembani Masuku corner kick.

At that point, everything pointed to the Mighty Bulls collecting maximum points, but with the clock ticking away, defender Godfrey Moyo brought down Mazivisa inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Mazivisa, who had initially been ruled out of the match with an injury before being “forced” into the match after 54 minutes, dusted himself up to sent goalkeeper Ronald Mudimu the wrong way for his 11th goal of the season. The draw did not have much effect in terms of the two teams’ position on the log standings as Shabanie Mine remained fourth on the log standings although they have reduced the gap between them and leaders Highlanders to just three points.

As for Motor Action, they remained on ninth position with 19 points. Shabanie Mine coach Luke Masomere said he had gambled on Mazivisa because of the injury crisis facing his strikers.

“He was not supposed to play in this match because he has an injury, but because all my strikers are down I took a risk and the gamble paid off. I’m really happy that I managed to get a point without my dependable strikers,” said Masomere.

Mighty Bulls coach Joey Antipas said: “The concentration levels were not good at the end, we panicked a bit at the back. But credit to Shabanie Mine for fighting until the end.”
