Hwange . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1) 2 Motor Action . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0 Hwange bounced back from two defeats to dehorn Motor Action in a Castle Lager Premiership match at the Colliery Stadium yesterday.

Malvern Longwe and Evans Rusike scored the goals that secured maximum points for the underfire Hwange technical bench after they lost two consecutive matches.

Nation Dube, Hwange coach, was impressed after the win: “It was a marvellous play as we managed to pick up three points at home after two painful defeats.”

Joey Antipas blamed two soft goals conceded by his side.

“The guys did pretty well. Christmas came early for Hwange as my guys gave them soft goals, but we dominated the second,” Antipas said.

Hwange found the opener in the 12th minute through Longwe as they continued their dominance but could not turn that into goals.

Luck came Bulls’ way in the 43rd minute when referee Bekezela Makeka awarded them a free kick after a David Boriwondo rough tackle on Isaac Masame, but the Bulls failed to convert.

The Bulls mounted the pressure in the second half and cursed their luck in the 63rd minute when Ishmael Lawe hit the nets, but his goal was ruled out for offside. In the 87th minute the coalminers’ fans held their breath for a split second when Masame unleashed a screamer from the centre which was tipped over by veteran goalkeeper Timothy Sibanda.

The coalminers’ bench made a double substitution in the 88th minute, bringing in Ocean Mpofu for Aaron Katebe and Rusike for Daniel Kamunhenga respectively.

The substitution paid dividends as Rusike struck in added time to seal maximum points after dribbling past goalkeeper Ronald Mudimu.
