Warriors midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha has signed a three-year contract with South African Premiership football side Bidvest Wits.

Nengomashas contract at Kaizer Chiefs expires at the end of this month and the General, as he is affectionately known in South Africa, has turned down a one-year extension to his deal.

Nengomashas representative Glyn Binkin confirmed yesterday that the player had signed for three years and was expected to join his new teammates this week when Wits start pre-season.

The Clever Boys are also understood to be negotiating with former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari.

The General left the Amakhosi at the weekend, taking up the chance of a new adventure at nearby Wits. Nengomasha made the decision despite the fact Chiefs had offered to renew his contract, but Wits stepped in and offered him a better deal, reported TimesLive yesterday.

At Bidvest, Nengomasha will join former Warriors goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro. Wits are one of the busiest teams in the current Absa Premiership transfer market and have already confirmed more than 10 new signings, while ex-Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena is also understood to have signed.

Wits are believed to have been handed a R70 million transfer kitty by their sponsors in a bid to turn them into title contenders.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are understood to be organising a testimonial match for Nengomasha to be staged before the end of this year.

Nengomasha spent 11 years at the Naturena and made 324 appearances for the Glamour Boys winning back-to-back titles between 2003 and 2005.

During that same period, the gritty midfielder also won the PSL Player of the Year, Players Player of the Year, Telkom Knockout (thrice), MTN Trophy, Coca-Cola Cup, SAA Super8 and Absa Cup.
