Farmers in Bubi have been urged to work together with agricultural extension officers as this would help them in producing better yields.

The Midlands province sales agronomist for Seed–Co, Ronnie Chigombe, told farmers that it was important that they seek knowledge on their enterprise. “We should learn as much as possible about farming,” he said.

“I urge you all to work hand in hand with agricultural extension officers.

“If you want to prosper, work with these people and everything will go well.

“Agricultural extension officers are more like shepherds who lead farmers to greener pastures. “So many people do not want to work with them. Please work with agricultural extension officers.”

Chingombe said many people look down upon farming and do not regard it as a serious business. “When people ask for businesspeople to stand up, we usually think that businesspeople are those people with shops,” he said.

“No, that is not it. Farmers are also businessmen because farming is your factory where you get all your needs, to pay for children’s fees and food to eat.”

“The Grain Marketing Board does not pay according to the sweetness or shining of your maize, but according to the heaviness of your maize.”
