Dynamos’ target Cliff Sekete of Castle Lager Premier League side Gunners is attracting interest from South African Absa Premiership side Amazulu who are poised to swoop first. Gunners commercial director Stanley Makombe confirmed yesterday that South African teams were monitoring Sekete and Leonard Fiyado.

Makombe said a “top” South African player agent Ali Tlhoaele who has close links with Amazulu, is arriving in the country this weekend to check on the duo. Tlhoaele facilitated Ramson Zhuwawo and Carrington Nyadombo’s moves from Gunners to Usuthu two years ago.

“Ali Thloaele is arriving on Saturday afternoon and will attend the Gunners versus Dynamos match at Lafarge Stadium on Sunday,” said Makombe.

“He is interested in Cliff Sekete and Leonard Fiyado. He is one of South Africa’s top agents and he helped facilitate the transfer of Ramson and Carrington,” said Makombe.

“Cliff and Fiyado had an outstanding season last year and Thloaele believes they can make it in the Absa Premiership. They are likely to go to Amazulu because of the close relationship between Tlhoaele and the club,” added Makombe.

Thloaele, who runs KN Sports and Virgin Talent International, has in his books players such as Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi and this month facilitated the transfer of the highly regarded Bafana Bafana midfielder Thamsanga Sangweni from Amazulu to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Fiyado was Gunners’ top goal scorer last season with nine goals but it is Sekete who has been the team’s major driving force in a long time now.

The skilful midfielder, voted as one of the 11 best footballers last season, was heavily linked with moves to Dynamos and cash rich FC Platinum at the start of the season. However, Gunners said they will only consider offers from outside the country.

The battle against relegation continues with 15th placed Quelaton on four points hosting 14th placed Hardbody who are three points better than their opposition at Luveve Stadium.
