Twelve schools from around the country will take part in the annual national Under 15 schools basketball tournament, an increase from the 10 that participated at the inaugural tourney last year.
This year’s tournament, which would be entering its second year, will be held at Jameson High School in Mashonaland West at the end of this month.
The inaugural tournament was held at Midlands Christian College. Each of the country’s 10 provinces will send a representative who would have emerged winners at respective provincial tournaments.
Head in charge of competitions Thompson Katanda yesterday said: “We have added two slots for the defending champions and the host school.
The schools have completed the preliminaries and I expect the full list of participants at the end of the Nash Conference in Kariba tomorrow (today). So far I understand Mazowe High School, Usher High and Chipadze have been confirmed.”
Howard High School and Mufakose High 2 are the boys and girls defending champions respectively.
“We expect a very exciting and competitive tournament this time around. We want the tournament to be our breeding ground for our junior national teams,” said Katanda.
