Just a day after signing a new two-year contract at Absa Premiership club Black Leopards, coach Sunday Chidzambwa has swooped on Kaizer Chiefs pair of defender Thomas Sweswe and Brian Abbas Amidu.

Chidzambwa replaces Serbian coach Vladislav Heric and was instrumental in ensuring Leopards survived in the Absa Premiership and their progress into the last 16 of the Caf Confederations Cup.

Now, the former Warriors coach is set to bring in veteran centre-back Sweswe, who will be purchased outright to strengthen the defence; while Amidu will spend the season on loan at the club to ensure he gets more game time.

The Zimbabwean pair is set to be added to the squad that assembled in Polokwane, for the start of pre-season training on Monday.

“Both deals are basically done, the chairman (David Thidiela) is just tying up some loose ends,” club spokesman Tendani Thidiela told a South African publication Sowetan on Monday.

He also confirmed former Leopards striker Kingston Nkatha was due back in the country yesterday and would complete his move away to Chiefs after a R3,5 million transfer deal was agreed on last week.

“We have already sent them the tax invoice for the player and I believe he has agreed personal terms with them, so it is just (left) for him to sign.”

Sweswe joined Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2009-2010 season from Harare giants Dynamos, having previously played for Manning Rangers along with former Warriors defender Dazzy Kapenya.

Turning 31 in August, and with the arrival of South African internationals Morgan Gould and Siboniso Gaxa, Sweswe was being deemed surplus to requirements at Naturena.

Amidu is seen by the Kaizer Chiefs management as a future star in the same mould as his countryman Knowledge Musona, who moved to Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga before being loaned out of Augsburg.

Chiefs are eager for Amidu to gain Premier Soccer League experience at another club, rather than in the pressured environment at Chiefs.

He joined the team for the second half of last season, but did not make an appearance for the club.
