Chapungu returned to winning ways on Saturday after dispatching fellow army side Tongogara 4-0 at Ascot Stadium, while league pacesetters Tripple B’s purple patch continued with a 2-0 triumph over Silo United at Mbizo Stadium in the Central Soccer League.

The win by Chapungu has seen the army squad’s point tally go up to 20 and assuming third position which they had surrendered to Vumbachikwe last week.

Vumbachikwe were held to a nil-all draw by Strikers FC to drop to fourth position with the same number of points and a goal difference inferior to Chapungu’s.

Waruwaru have cut the gap between them and second-placed Strikers to two points. League pacesetters Tripple B opened a six-point gap between them and second-placed FC Strikers.

The Beitbridge-side grabbed crucial away points when they beat stubborn Silo United in their own backyard. This was the first home defeat for Silo United who remain rooted on fifth position with 16 points.

Hwahwa seem to have put their nightmarish start to the season behind them and have found the winning formula.

The correctional services side registered their second win this season with a 1-0 win over NewZim Steel.

The win has seen Hwahwa steering away from the relegation zone and are now placed 12th on the 16-team log.

In other matches played at the weekend Airstars beat Blanket Mine 1-0 in Kwekwe while FC Platinum U-19 also sailed past Chrome Stars FC with a similar scoreline at Mandava Stadium.

Town United thrashed Zialanda 3-0 at Dulibadzimu while MSU and Jessie Mine played a two-all draw at Ascot Stadium.
