Five Zifa Southern Region Division One football league matches will be played in the coal-mining town of Hwange this weekend.

Log leaders and former Premiership side Bantu Rovers, who have maintained their stranglehold at the apex of the log table, take on Power Cosmos.

Bantu, who look set for a return to top-flight football, last week went on a rampage and crushed Emakhandeni Pirates 4-0 with Nqobizitha Masuku grabbing a brace and Marvelous Nakamba and Evans Mwanza getting the other goals.

Tshintsha Guluva have amassed 27 points from 11 games, winning nine matches and losing two and are likely to collect yet another set of maximum points against struggling Cosmos.

Another former Premiership team — Railstars — are also off to Hwange tomorrow for a tough encounter against ZPC Hwange, who are on position three on the log standings with 22 points from 10 matches.

Railstars, fourth with 19 points, last week beat Tsholotsho 1-0 away from home and a win tomorrow will ensure a one-rung leap on the ladder dislodging ZPC Hwange.

Log anchors Projects are at home to New West City tomorrow while newcomers Rufaro Rovers, who also have been on a bad start in their debut season in Division One football, host fellow debutants Sizani Fruits and Veg in Hwange. Town neighbours Hwange Juniors and Mpumalanga also lock horns in the coal-mining town tomorrow.

Second-placed How Mine will be seeking to keep the contest tight in the league as they are home to Ntabazinduna at the gold mine tomorrow.

If they win tomorrow and Bantu Rovers lose in Hwange, the gold miners, who are a point behind the log leaders, will leap to the top.

Newcomers Tsholotsho have had a good start to the season and are at home again this weekend when they entertain police squad Black Boots after losing 1-0 to Railstars in their backyard last weekend.
