Confederation of School Sport Association of Southern Africa (COSSASA) gold medallist Primrose Zimunhu has secured a scholarship with the Southern Africa International School of Sport (SAISS) in Goromonzi.

The former Warikandwa Secondary School sprinting sensation was last month enrolled at the school soon after her return from Botswana. She is now following a strict training programme at the international school of sport under the supervision of the school head Taurai Nyaruwata and athletics coaches.

Zimunhu comes from a poor family and her sterling performance at the COSSASA Games in Gaborone where she won four medals including two gold has opened an avenue for her to realise her full potential.

Nyaruwata said they were touched by the athlete’s plight after her heroics at the regional youth championships.

He said they had taken over payment of her school fees and other requirements including a sports kit. Nyaruwata added that they were earmarking the 14-year old sprinter to compete at the next Olympic Games in 2016.

“She is following a strict training programme. She is a very promising athlete and we are confident she will be a huge success at the international stage given her positive attitude towards sport.” said Nyaruwata.
