LAGOS — Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi will take no part in the final fixture of the AWC tie against the Mighty Warriors Saturday in Lagos. The Mighty Warriors leave this morning via Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ebi, who plays for the Turkish side Atasehir Belediyesi, was solid in Falcons’ 2-0 defeat of the Southern Africans in the first fixture in Harare.

SuperSport.com learnt the defender’s club has an important league game on June 14 which will see the winner qualify for the Uefa championship. Ebi expressed regret at her unavailability for the crucial AWC game.

“It is so sad that I will not be home for the second leg against Zimbabwe. I will play a crucial league final match on June 14 and that leaves me with just one day to join the team (Falcons) for the match against Zimbabwe.

“I would have loved to be there, but the coach (Ikhana) has decided that the time is too short as my flight will land in Lagos the night before the game.”

Despite the 2-0 advantage, Ebi believes that the Zimbabweans will be tough and has warned her teammates to avoid complacency.

“We are the top team in Africa and every team wants to beat us. The Mighty Warriors put up a good fight in Harare and they will surely put up a better fight in Lagos because they want to qualify for the AWC. It’s true that we carry a two-goal advantage into the match, but the tie is not over yet. We must be at our best to ensure that we make it to Equatorial Guinea and defend our title.” Ebi expressed confidence in the ability of other defenders to do good work.
