Police in Kwekwe have launched a manhunt for a suspected killer rapist Simbarashe Moyo, who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl from Munyati and left her dead.

Kwekwe district police spokesperson Detective Sergeant Israel Mhondiwa said the incident occurred on May 19 this year.

According to police, Moyo (33) had previously cohabitated with the deceased’s aunt Muchaneta Sandikuye before he vanished from their home at River Ranch Farm in Munyati.

Moyo then resurfaced on May 19 this year and found Sandikuye at a local drinking spot, but she allegedly spurned him claiming she had found new love.

In a fit of rage, Moyo proceeded to her home and allegedly raped the teenage girl, leaving her dead.

“We found the girl dead as she lay in a pool of blood which was still flowing from her private parts. Some household property was also missing,” said Mhondiwa.

Police suspect that Moyo could have sexually abused the young girl before he fled.

“We appeal to members of the community who might have information on the whereabouts of Moyo to contact the nearest police station or to call me on 0772 292 375 or Kwekwe CID on (055)22745,” said Mhondiwa.
