CHINHOYI Former Harare special interest councillor Charles Nyachowe is reportedly tipped to contest the Zvimba East parliamentary election on a Zanu PF ticket. The seat currently falls under former Mashonaland West Provincial Governor Nelson Samkange.

Nyachowe is Zanu PF secretary for indigenisation for Manyame district.

Contacted for comment yesterday, Nyachowe could neither deny nor confirm his bid to contest the forthcoming poll on a Zanu PF ticket.

I have heard people talk about me being tipped to stand as MP for Zvimba East, but I have not been formally approached with the idea. But who am I to deny a task that my superiors in the party would have assigned me? If I am tasked to do it, I would, said Nyachowe.

He said he left his position as special interest councillor for Harare to concentrate on rejuvenating Zanu PF grassroots support in his home area.

Jostling for positions within Zanu PF has reportedly heightened over the last few months following President Robert Mugabes call for elections this year.

Party bigwigs have reportedly been accused of attempting to impose their blue-eyed boys in the district coordinating committee elections in a bid to solidify their hold on to power.
