An intriguing tie is expected in the Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZNA) Super League game between defending champions Railstars and last year’s runners-up Nehanda Nyakasikana at Raylton Sports Club in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Nyakasikana would want to forget the last time the two clashed where the Harare side lost 38-30, a result which guaranteed the championship for Railstars.

In the first encounter Railstars were lucky to walk away with maximum points after narrowly beating Nyakasikana 34-33 at Chikurubi Prison Complex in July last year.

Railstars ended the season unbeaten last year, but suffered a major shock after losing 24-22 to Black Mambas while Nyakasikana beat Waruwaru 49-21 last Saturday.

Railstars secretary-general Tendai Mtambo said the team would outclass their opponents. “We have brushed aside our loss to Black Mambas. We are now focusing on our next game. We want to beat them (Nyakasikana) and we should not be underestimated just because we lost last week,” she said.

Both teams are tied on 18 points, but Nyakasikana are on top of the log table due to a superior goal difference.

Nyakasikana have played nine games and are unbeaten and have scored 630 goals while Railstars have 404 goals.

Nyakasikana secretary-general Moses Gukurume was anticipating a tough game.

He said: “Railstars are a formidable team and we are also a good team. Naturally, it is going to be an exciting game and we are not underestimating Railstars.

“We are expecting a tough game despite the fact they lost their first game of the season.”

The visitors will bank on players who include Netsai Muchemwa, Blessing Mufandaedza and Edna Nyamazha while Railstars will look up to players like Perpetua Siyachitema, Daphne Agere, Zanele Ngwenyama and Melody Ncube.
