Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi will this afternoon perform at the Harare Gardens at a show dubbed Super Saturday that doubles as a farewell concert for dancehall chanter, Sniper, who is set to tour the United Kingdom next week.

Sniper, also known as The General, will tour UK with King Shaddy and South Africa-based urban grooves musician, Nox.

Their first show is billed to take place at Sol House in Manchester on June 22 while the second will be held the following day at Platinum in Coventry.

Todays show at the Harare Gardens will see Sniper bidding his fans farewell with blessings from Mtukudzi and support from his peers Tryson Chimbetu and Peter Moyo also billed to perform at the family show. Apama dance group is expected to spice up the show with hilarious dance routines.

In the past two months Tuku has performed week in week out in the country staging a string of shows in Harare.

Tuku said he had gone on this overdrive to reach out to his fans.

I am leaving for overseas tours at the end of July only to come back in September and the best way to make sure that all the fans do not feel the gap is to do as many shows as possible, said Tuku in a recent interview.

The line-up of performers at todays show is likely to make it memorable.

Chimbetu is a rising star in dendera music circles. He is capable of pulling a shocker anytime he gets on stage.

Many say Tryson possesses the same charisma and talent that his late uncle Simon had. A lot has been said about Moyo since he took over the reins at Utakataka Express.

Of late he has, however, proved to be just another young man trying to fill his fathers gigantic boots. But he also possesses styles that have seen him outstaging big names at some concerts and he should be coming to this show with a bag of tricks.

Lastly comes Apama, a hilarious comedian with a career spanning close to a decade.

The comedian and his ensemble left audiences in stitches at this years edition of the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa) where he performed for the first time.

Over the years he has been performing in small bars and pubs, but the Hifa act seems to have thrust him to another level.

This will be the first time for Apama (real name David Machowa) to perform with Tuku and it appears this is just the beginning of a new chapter in his career.

Organisers of the show said there will be lots of fun and activities including horse riding, four-wheel motor cycle rides and braai.

Such a promising show should be a befitting and inspiring farewell for Sniper.

The energetic musician said his Harare and UK fans should expect fireworks.

My fans should look forward to very good performances. I will do the best that I can to give them shows of a lifetime. I will also give them a taste of some of my new songs and they should expect surprises, said the Love Yemusoja hit maker.

It will be Snipers second time to perform in the UK, having made his debut tour of that country in August 2009.
