MASVINGO Several senior Zanu PF officials from Masvingo province say they were not aware of Higher and Tertiary Education minister Stan Mudenges wedding which took place in Zimuto last weekend.

Mudenge (71) tied the knot for the third time with his new partner, Mildred Kada, believed to be in her 20s, at a low key event held at his rural home in Bawa, Zimuto, on Saturday.

Sources said the event was attended by few Zanu PF officials.

Zanu PF politburo, central committee members and Members of Parliament said they were not invited to the event.

Sources said Mudenge only invited close family members to the wedding, his third after his first two wives died between 2001 and 2004.

I am not aware that he wedded. Do you mean the minister or his son? That is news to me, said one Zanu PF MP who declined to be named.

Maybe it was just meant for his family as well as those who belong to his faction, another MP said.

According to sources, those that attended the ceremony included Masvingo governor and Resident Minister Titus Maluleke, Chiredzi South MP Ailess Baloyi, Abraham Sithole and former governor Josiah Hungwe, as well as hotelier and former Chiredzi commercial farmer Digby Nesbit.

Nesbit, Hungwe and Roman Catholic priest Father Jaya, were reportedly announced as the go-betweens between the Mudenge and the brides families.

Mudenges first wife Kgogo died in 2001 before his second wife Eunice passed away in 2004.
