MASVINGO — Higher and Tertiary Education minister Stan Mudenge (71) is set to tie the knot today for the third time.

Informed sources said Mudenge would wed Mildred Mwete, a Bulawayo-based businesswoman whom he has reportedly been dating for some time.

Mwete’s age, however, could not be ascertained as there were conflicting reports, with some sources suggesting she was 25, while others said she was older than that and is a single mother with her own grown-up children.

Although Mudenge, the Zanu PF Masvingo North MP, could not be reached for comment, sources said the wedding would take place in Bawa or Chatsworth, Gutu.

“That is true. He is going to wed on Saturday (today). I am not so sure whether it is in Chatsworth or Bawa,” the source said.

“He has been seeing Mildred Mwete for a very long time and I am surprised by your interest now.” The source said preparations had gone well and “it’s all systems go come Saturday”.

Zanu PF provincial chairman Lovemore Matuke refused to comment on the matter, saying the issue was personal.

A historian by profession, Mudenge’s first wife Kgogo died in 2001 before second his wife, Eunice, passed away in 2004.
