Defending league champions Dynamos are facing a potential injury crisis ahead of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Motor Action at Rufaro Stadium tomorrow.

The Harare giants, who have played the second-highest number of competitive games after FC Platinum, are beginning to feel the impact with most of their players grounded.

Defensive midfielder Milton Makopa has not featured in his team’s previous three matches with a hamstring problem.

Midfielder Denver Mukamba, scorer of his team’s first goal in the 2-1 triumph over Chicken on Sunday, limped out of the match early in the second half with a suspected groin injury.

The second goal for Dynamos was scored by Murape Murape to take the Harare giants’ points tally to 16, three points behind log leaders Highlanders, who maintained their top position with a 1-0 win over Hwange on the same day. Centreback Patson Jaure played the last third of the match limping and had to be moved to the right-back position with Thomas Magorimbo shifting place to partner Guthrie Zhokinyi at the heart of defence.

Striker Takesure Chinyama also looked unfit as he spent the second half literally walking on the pitch while fellow forwards Martin Vengesai and Derick Kabwe asked to be substituted.

Dynamos crumbled after Mukamba limped off at the start of the second half against Chicken Inn while the team’s defence became unstable when Jaure was moved to the right-back position. Motor Action, smarting from a shocking 1-0 defeat to newcomers Buffaloes on Sunday, quickly went down to business yesterday.

“We are going into a big match so we have to adequately prepare for it,” said assistant coach Prince Matore yesterday. “We played well against Buffaloes, but we were very unfortunate to lose that match. We cannot complain about our season so far, we are not far off the leading pack. What we need is to pick up points as much as possible, starting with the match against Dynamos,” he added.
