Zimbabwe Council for Tourism (ZCT) says the forthcoming 37th edition of the Africa Travel Association (ATA) will reassert the country as a prime tourism destination.

The congress is set for Victoria Falls from May 1822.

In a statement, ZCT president Glenn Stutchbury said as the host, Zimbabwe will have the opportunity to show that the countrys tourism sector continues to improve in all aspects.

We believe that this congress will earmark Zimbabwes reaffirmation as a prime destination to the American market, Stutchbury said.

ZCT brings together players in the private sector including the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents, the Board of Airline Representatives, the Boating Association of Zimbabwe, Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe and Safari Operators Association of Zimbabwe among others.

He said all subsectors were committed in delivering excellence and providing visitors with a memorable experience in Zimbabwe.

Vice-President Joyce Mujuru and the United States ambassador to Zimbabwe, Charles Ray, are some of key delegates expected to attend the event.

The congress will address timely and relevant topics principal to the travel industry especially web-based public relations, online promotion and future market trends, Stutchbury said.

Founded in 1975, ATA seeks to promote travel, tourism and transport to and within Africa, and to strengthen intra-Africa partnerships.

Zimbabwe last hosted the ATA congress in 1988.
