MDC leader Welshman Ncube says Zanu PF can longer win a free and fair election in Zimbabwe hence its desperate push for polls this year.

Addressing a rally at Sizinda Hall in Bulawayo on Sunday, Ncube warned his supporters to be wary of Zanu PF’s intentions.

“They must not talk of elections before they let free the television and radio waves,” he said.

“They must not talk of elections before stopping the police from oppressing Zimbabweans.

“If they say let’s have elections after all these have been solved, they can even call for them next week we do not mind. But no free and fair election will be won by Zanu PF.”

Ncube also said his party members in Copac would see to it that clauses about devolution of power were enshrined in the new charter.

“If the road to Nkayi needs maintenance, no one from Murehwa would have much interest about it than the one who comes from Nkayi,” he said.

“Some have come to the people saying devolution is divisive. They are lying.”

Ncube said the system of governance would see the country remaining with “one President who is the Head of State and government and commander-in-chief”.

He said it was sad that people in Matobo failed to get birth certificates from their area and were being forced to go as far as Harare because the system was centralised.

Ncube said MDC also supported the legalisation of dual citizenship in the new constitution despite opposition from Zanu PF.
