The MDC led by Welshman Ncube has made changes to its leadership structure, including reassigning its organising secretary Qhubani Moyo to the policy and research portfolio.

MDC spokesperson Nhlanhla Dube yesterday said the changes were meant to exploit the individual strengths of the party leaders by matching them with appropriate duties.

“The national standing committee of the Movement for Democratic Change met on Saturday April 28 2012 in Bulawayo and made various and key strategic redeployments,” he said.

“The national standing committee was motivated by the reality and urgent need to fill gaps that were created by the passing on of some of our party’s national executive members.”

According to Dube, Moyo, who was the national organising secretary, is now the national director for policy and research co-ordination.

Former Nkulumane Senator Rittah Ndlovu took over from Moyo.

Other new appointees include Cotten Ndlovu (national secretary for recruitment), Mary Manyenje (deputy national secretary for recruitment), Sam Mlilo (national secretary for education), Sondon Stalin Mugaradziko (national secretary for international relations and external structures), Lameck Nkiwane Muyambi (national secretary for business, investments and projects), Ellen Shiriyedenga (national director of elections), Abednico Moyo (deputy national director of elections) and Lovemore Ncube (national secretary for transport).
