The Manicaland Basketball League (MBA) is expected to resume in the first week of May after a three -week break.

MBA spokesman Tawanda Wemba said: “We are going to resume our league programme next week after a brief break. We have Mutare Boys’ and Girls High who are part of our league and they are on holiday, obviously they will struggle to send their best teams,’’ he said.

‘’The other issue is that we have Africa University who were participating at the Universities games. We also have Mutare Polytechnic in our league who had other commitments and they are also on holiday, so we had no option but to stop the league,’’ he said.

Mercenaries are leading the eight-team men’s log standings with 10 points ahead of second placed Dangamvura Knights, who have nine points while Mutare Boy’s High is occupying third position with eight points, having played a game less.

Sharks are leading the four – team female category with six points from three matches and Mutare Girls High School are second with three points.
