Three members of the Zimbabwe National Army and a pirate taxi driver appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court yesterday on charges of killing a Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) agent following a brawl in Glen Norah last week.

The soldiers — Blessing Nyakwima (27), Nkazimulo Nkomo (27) and Damascus Tafa (26) — and taxi driver, Vitalis Nyakwima (age not given), are facing charges of the murder of CIO agent Brown Mwale.

They were not asked to plead to the murder charge when they appeared for initial remand before magistrate Anita Tshuma.

Tshuma remanded them in custody to May 4. The suspects are being represented by Harare lawyer Norman Mugiya.

Mwale, who was 40 years old, was killed after an alleged misunderstanding over a taxi fare charged by one of the accused.
