A 55-year-old Rusape man unashamedly took his nine-year-old daughter for a wife and raped her from December last year until last week when the matter came to light.
The 55-year-old man was arrested on April 17 by police in Rusape and is still in police custody to pave way for full investigations before he is taken to court.
According to Manicaland police assistant spokesperson Sergeant Muzondiwa Clean, the man had divorced his wife before setting his sights on the juvenile.
“The 55-year-old man who hails from Silverbow in Rusape is alleged to have slept with his nine-year-old daughter since December last year. He is still in police custody and he will appear in court soon,” said Clean.
He told NewsDay the matter came to light after the juvenile, corrupted by her father’s misconduct, went on to have sexual intercourse with a four-year-old from the same neighbourhood.
“When bathing the four-year-old juvenile, the maid noticed that the minor had some bruises on his male organ and she told his mother about that.
“The mother talked to her son who revealed all that had happened in the afternoon with the nine-year-old neighbour,” said Clean.
The mother went on to report the matter to police. The nine-year-old juvenile spilled the beans and said she did the “act” on a daily basis with her father.

She told police that sometime in December last year, her father called her and asked her to lie on the ground.
He raped her once on that day, and threatened her with assault if she ever revealed what had happened that afternoon.
Police were also told by the juvenile that she had been sleeping with her father since that day, leading to the arrest of the 55-year-old man.
Clean said the man was still in police custody and was expected to appear in court soon.
Meanwhile,the police urged parents and guardians to be responsible and not take advantage of situations to molest juveniles as the law would descend on them.
