At least 30 players fingered in the Asiagate match-fixing scandal have been exonerated, the Zifa Independent Ethics Committee tasked to investigate the allegations, has revealed.

Chairman of the committee Justice Ahmed Ebrahim told journalists at a press conference in the capital yesterday that the list of the cleared players will be announced this week.

From our preliminary investigations, there are some players who have been proved innocent. A list in the region of 30 players has been exonerated and we will this week, around Wednesday, recommend their names to Zifa, said Ebrahim.

The retired Supreme Court Judge said there are a number of individuals fingered who are refusing to give evidence to his committee.

He said there are some clubs who are allegedly telling their players not to co-operate with the Ethics committee.

Quoting several statutes from the Fifa Disciplinary Code, Ebrahim said his committee will use their discretion in such cases.

Some certain clubs it appears, have told their players not to respond to us, but I hope they will see the foolishness of that conduct.
