Zimbabwean sprinter Francis Zimwara set another personal best in the 200m race and claimed a bronze medal as he inched closer to Olympic qualification time at the Mauritius International meet held at the Stade Germain Comarmond in the town of Bambous on Saturday.

The Ziscosteel Athletics Club runner raced home in a time of 21,10 seconds to beat his previous record of 21,73 seconds he set at last year’s All-Africa Games in Mozambique where he narrowly missed on a bronze medal. His compatriot Faithful Goremusandu also beat her personal best time of 2:14.88 minutes after touching the finishing line on fifth position in a time of 2:08.01 minutes in the women’s 800m final race. Another runner Tinashe Mutanga who competed in the men’s 100m failed to surpass his previous records at the same contest. Like Goremusandu, Mutanga also finished two places shy of a bronze medal in the 100m finals clocking a time of 10,78 seconds, which is disappointingly beyond his personal best of 10,41 seconds he attained at the Africa Junior Championships in Botswana last year.
