A 39-year-old Nyazura man, James Kacheche, allegedly committed suicide last weekend after receiving news of his wifes death.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Enock Chishiri said Kacheche of Macheme village in Nyazura consumed an unknown poisonous substance on April 7 after receiving information his wife, who was admitted at Rusape General Hospital, had passed on.
Kacheche went to his bedroom and consumed an unknown poisonous substance after receiving a message that his wife had died, said Chishiri. Kacheches brother-in-law Jonathan Mukwanya had delivered the news to him.
It is unfortunate Kacheche decided to end his life in such a manner. People with problems should always seek counselling from others, said Chishiri.
