Parliament has taken a month-long break and will resume normal business in mid-May, Speaker of the House of Assembly Lovemore Moyo has said.

Moyo also added Parliamentary committee business will remain suspended until May 7, while both the House of Assembly and Senate were adjourned until May 15.

When the Senate was adjourned, amendments to the Public Order and Security Act were before the Upper House.

Justice and Legal Affairs minister Patrick Chinamasa had halted debate on the Bill, arguing the matter had been referred to negotiators of the Global Political Agreement.

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission Bill had successfully gone through the second reading stage and was at committee stage.

Arguments by the MDC-T MPs during the second reading stage were Section 9 (4) of the Bill, which stipulates the commission shall not investigate a complaint relating to an action or omission that occurred earlier than February 13 2009, be changed.
