St John’s College won cups for the top team in the Under-19, Under-17 and Under-14 matches in the National Foods-sponsored seven-a-side schools rugby tournament held at St John’s College on Friday and Saturday.

Hellenic won the Under-16 cup and Mbare Academy, which National Foods gave additional sponsorship to, won the Under-15 cup.

There were four prizes — the cup, plate, bowl and shield — for each age group from Under-14 to Under-19. The plate was won by Eaglesvale in the Under-19 group, Vainona in the Under-17 group, Prince Edward in the Under-16 group, Churchill in the Under-15 group and Hellenic in the Under 14 group. Heritage took the Under-19 bowl, Eaglesvale the Under-17 bowl, Mbare Academy the Under-16 bowl, Allan Wilson the Under-15 bowl and Prince Edward the Under-14 bowl. The shields were won by Prince Edward (Under-19 and Under-17), Eaglesvale (Under-16), Hellenic (Under-15) and Churchill (Under-14).

Eleven schools fielded teams in the St John’s College Seven-a-Side Rugby Invitation Tournament, in which 480 schoolchildren took part and more than 100 games were played.
