Police in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who allegedly stormed a shop at Morningside business centre and got away with $700 over the weekend.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo confirmed the incident.

“Yes, I can confirm that such an incident occurred. A manhunt has been launched to find these armed robbers,” he said.

“We discourage shop owners from keeping large amounts of money in their shops as this attracts thieves.”

It is alleged the suspects arrived at the shop in a taxi with their faces covered in dark- coloured masks.

They allegedly ordered the shop attendant and some customers they found inside to lie down after brandishing a pistol at them.

The suspects then opened a cash register, stealing $700 cash and went on to rob the shoppers of their mobile phones before driving off.
