Exhibitors at the just-ended Bulawayo Book Fair have described the showcase as a major success after it attracted a huge turnout especially among schoolchildren.

Longman representative Stanley Mthombeni said the fair, organised by the Zimbabwe International Book Fair Association, gave publishers an opportunity to showcase their products.

“As publishers, this is a great opportunity for us to showcase our products to the people of Bulawayo,” he said.

Thubelihle Sibanda, who was manning a stand featuring the late Vice-President Joshua Nkomo’s biography, The Story of My Life, described the turnout at the fair as positive.

“The fair is good because it has given us an opportunity to sell the late Vice-President’s book and for more people to gain knowledge on what it is about,” he said.

The book fair attracted organisations such as the United Nations, Oxford University Press, Innovate Bookshop, Best Books Suppliers, Radiant Publishing, Bulawayo Public Library, Cultural Centre for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zimbabwe Publishers Private Limited, Longman Publishers Private Limited, Baroda Training Book Centre and Christ Embassy International.
