Rotary Club Harare yesterday donated research textbooks to the University of Zimbabwe (UZ)’s College of Medicine as part of its new partnership with the institution.
Club president Cliff Chafausipo said the donation was part of Rotary’s goal of promoting community service projects.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, UZ vice-chancellor Levi Nyagura said:
“We welcome this gesture by an organisation that seeks to promote quality in our education system and this new concept where students are involved in sourcing study materials for themselves.
“As we welcome this gesture, we are sending a clear message that the University of Zimbabwe will never allow weak students to pass through.
“Our stance on the quality of education remains the same. We have shifted from a stone-throwing era to a new period that requires students to be partners with the university in as far as their learning is concerned.”
