Former Highlanders players Lovemore Makwavarara and Marshall Machazane have joined Premiership debutantes Quelaton.

Zimbabwe Saints ex-striker Fortune Nyambosi is also part of the 23-man squad registered with the Premier Soccer League in Harare by club director Tawanda Ruzive yesterday.

Head coach Thulani Sibanda said Nyambosi, other strikers Tedius Mugumanya and Amani Makiwa were doubtful starters for Sundays Quelaton first appearance in the Premiership against Hwange at the Colliery.

Nyambosi is nursing a groin injury, Makiwa a nagging knee injury from last year while Mugumanya sustained an ankle injury during one of their pre-season friendly matches.

Defender Zibusiso Sibanda from Division One New West City is also nursing an injury, but Sibanda said he was hopeful the right-back would be fit for the Chipangano match on Sunday.

We have quite a number of injuries from our friendly matches, but we will go and fight. We believe that we are not a lightweight and we have no choice, but to go and fight. We have quite a number of replacements for the injured players because we have 30 players in the team. So, all things being equal, we are ready for Hwange come Sunday, Sibanda said.

Quelaton meet Chipangano, who of late have played three international matches in the Caf Confederation Cup beating Zanzibars Jamhuri 3-0 away and 4-1 home and on Sunday they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sudans Al Amal Atbara. Sibanda believes they are equal competition to every team in the Premiership.

The Premiership newboys have faith in the players that brought them into the countrys elite football league, only signing three players from the Premiership, Makwavarara, Nyambosi and Machazane after parting ways with Njabulo Tshiki Ncube, Sizalobuhle Dube and Patrick Mboma.

They lost one of their illustrious midfielders Peter Rio Moyo to Highlanders.

They retained their two goalkeepers from last year Winston Chiwetu and Freedom Magaba, while signing another defender Itayi Hungwe from Zimbabwe Saints.

The midfield set-up comprises of captain Innocent Kutsanzira, Timothy January, Proud Zireni, Eddie Nkulungo, Dalubuhle Maphosa, Gracious Nleya and Phakamani Dube, signed from Hwange Juniors.

Their top goalscorer last year Kundishora Chakanyuka, who had been feared to be joining Highlanders, is likely to be leading the Quelaton troops against Hwange with other strikers Fortune Nkomazana and Jephious Muzenda.

Zireni, MacClive Phiri, George Jojo, Brendon Moyo and Zibusiso Dambo make the juniors quota infused into the senior team as per PSL regulations.
