Caps United will name their captain for the season tomorrow.

The teams chief executive officer Maxwell Mironga, in denying rumours that Evans Gwekwerere has been handed the captains armband, said the new structure will be finalised this afternoon.

Its not true at all (Gwekwerere captaincy). They (technical team) will finalise everything tomorrow (today) and let us know before they announce at 2pm on Thursday (tomorrow), Mironga said.

The former Dynamos, Moroka Swallows and Jomo Cosmos player seemed to have wormed his way into new manager Sean Connors heart for the new Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season that starts this weekend.

The striker, however, has an uneasy relationship with assistant coach Lloyd Chitembwe with the pair having had several clashes last season and early this year.

Gwekwerere was at trials at South African giants Orlando Pirates last season with no success and also attracted interest from Egyptian sides alongside another former Dynamos player Norman Maroto, who is now at Motor Action.

The former champions have gone heavy into the market this season, signing Darryl Nyandoro, former Hwange and Bidvest Wits defender Obert Moyo, former Highlanders playmaker Rahman Kutsanzira among others in a bid to win the league title.

Their last title came under Charles Mhlauri in 2005 when he completed a league and cup double before Highlanders won the 2006 edition.

Dynamos claimed the title in 2007 before Monomotapa, Gunners and Motor Action started the small clubs domination for three consecutive years.
