Following a misunderstanding between the two Chimombe cousins, Freddy and Lincoln, over the revival of the late James Chimombes Ocean City Band Lincoln has decided to join Zambezi Valley Group.

Freddy and Lincoln had an understanding after Lincoln tried to revive the group without blessing of Freddy who claimed he alone had the right to revive the band since he is the son of the late Chimombe.

Lincoln said he had decided to join Zambezi Valley Group to avoid misunderstandings with his ailing cousin Freddy.

I have decided to join Zambezi Valley so as to avoid conflict with my cousin, but I will use the songs used by our father, said Lincoln.

He said he had agreed with his cousin to use the songs of the late veteran musician until he releases a new album before year-end.

Freddy, however, disputed there was such an arrangement adding that he would revive his fathers band as soon as his health allows him. I will personally revive my fathers band. He (Lincoln) is my half-brother, yes, but I did not give him the permission to use my fathers songs, said Freddy.

James Chimombes daughter, Tendai, has also described Lincoln as an impostor.

He is a Chimombe, I strongly agree on that, but the fact that he is a true son of James is not true. I told him that if he wants to be into music he must be ready to face the world with his own style, she said.

James Chimombe had six children namely Tendai, Freddy, Linda, Linden, Kudakwashe (late) and Tatenda.
