A new reality television show dubbed WonderWorld Zimbabwe is on the cards. WonderWorld Zimbabwe is a tourism reality television show whose thrust will be to inspire appreciation of the countrys tourist destinations.

Creator of the reality show Boniface Chimedza said it will divert from the norm.

Viewers might be familiar with reality shows such as Big Brother Africa, Idols and The Apprentice, but WonderWorld Zimbabwe will come with a difference, said Chimedza.

Our show will be tourism-related, interactive and exciting. It will be the first of its kind in the country.

The contestants will be drawn from across the country and those successful will be required to perform certain tourism tasks to avoid elimination.

The tasks will be assignments given to the contestants in order to test their versatility regarding a chosen tourism activity.

These tasks will have a bias towards marketing a particular tourist resort to both local and global audiences and may include rebranding of certain tourism sites, Chimedza said.

The programme will be shot at renowned tourist resorts and attraction centres such as Great Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, Vumba Mountains, Chinhoyi Caves and other similar sites.

Chimedza, who is also a seasoned actor having starred in local productions that include Studio 263, Legacies and Go Chanaiwa Go, said plans were in place to market the show internationally.

Once the shooting and packaging is complete we plan to distribute the programme to satellite television stations regionally and around the world since that is our targeted market, said Chimedza.

The reality show is being put together by Prestige Pictures and Saiwe Chimbetu, one of the musicians in the Chimbetu clan, has already recorded the theme song for the show that was produced by prominent music producer McDonald Chidavaenzi.
