Former South Africa and Provincial Rugby players are expected in the country today to conduct a one-day coaching clinic at Mutare Sports Club tomorrow.

Eight legends are expected to show up at the clinic with the likes of Schalk Burger Snr, father of the current Springbok star Schalk Burger, Pieter Muller, AJ Venter and Danie Gaber, among others.One-hundred and fifty children in Manicaland, from 13 to 15 years old, are going to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of meeting the legends.

Organiser Byran Rocher said they expected local young players to benefit.

Manicaland Rugby Board secretary and Mutare Sports Club head coach Mackenzie Munetsi, who was involved in selecting the children in the province, confirmed to NewsDay Sport that they had finished all the groundwork.

“The kids are now ready to meet the legends, we have already selected the children who are going to benefit at the coaching clinic. I believe it is something which comes once in a lifetime for these youngsters,” said Munetsi. The legends will come into the country under their flagship South African Rugby Legends Association, to promote its programme Rugby for Africa where the game is developed from the grassroots level.
