ACCRA — Ghana have sacked Goran Stevanovic as coach and were only discussing terms of a departure at a meeting yesterday.

The Serbian was told of the decision of the Ghana Football Association at a meeting on Friday chaired by the body’s vice-president Jordan Anagbla and asked for an adjournment to enable him fly down a legal aid for the discussions on a compensation package.

KickOffGhana.com understands Stevanovic has asked to be paid off for the rest of one-year on his contract and another outstanding €100 000, which is the deficit on his €200 000 yet to be settled by the Ghana Football Association. His departure in all could cost Ghana €430 000.

Stevanovic was appointed Ghana coach a year ago with a mandate to win the country its first Nations Cup title in 30 years. Ghana reached the semi-finals of the competition prompting calls for his departure. — Kick Off Ghana
