A Lupane woman who claims to be a former mistress of Tsholotsho South MP Maxwell Dube says she now lives in fear after unknown people allegedly stormed her home in the middle of the night and destroyed property accusing her of being a “husband snatcher”.

The woman, Kumbirai Hamandishe, said the suspects broke window panes and doors and fled into the night after she screamed for help.

The incident allegedly took place last Tuesday and Hamandishe said she suspected the culprits were haunting her because of her relationship with the MDC MP.

The two allegedly have two children, aged four and 18 months. Police confirmed the incident but said no suspects had been arrested yet.

“Yes, the woman made a report of malicious damage to property and police in Lupane are investigating the matter. No arrests have been made at the moment,” said Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Siphiwe Makonese.

Dube confirmed siring two children with Hamandishe, but said they had since parted ways.

“Who told you that? Why did she do that? Maybe for her safety the story should be published because she was being attacked because of her links to me,’ said Dube.

“You know one way or the other these links were going to reach the media. However, did she tell you that we broke up?” asked Dube.

Hamandishe said she suspected her assailants to be security agents or hired thugs.

Relating her ordeal to NewsDay, Hamandishe said she feared for her life after several successive unpleasant visits by unknown people.
