Manicaland will this weekend select its provincial squad to take part at the National Paralympics Games pencilled for Hwange next month.

The games which were officially launched at the Colliery club in Hwange last Friday will be played on April 5-9.

Sports and Recreation Commission provincial co-ordinator Shupikai Berejena confirmed the development to NewsDay Sport yesterday, adding he was expecting a big turn-out from people living with disability.

“The Manicaland Paralympics organising committee is going to select the provincial team on Saturday. This is the first time to have the provincial selection. In the past we would go to institutions where people lived with disability and select them, but this year we are using a different approach as the selection will be open to everyone.

“We are expecting every district in the province to attend the event. We want all people living with disability to attend the event and we would like to come up with a good squad. We are expecting about 100 players. l believe this selection is going to help us because there is raw talent in remote areas,” he said.
