NAIROBI — Kenya’s Under-20 women’s national soccer team turned on the style to demolish hapless Zambia 4-0 in the second leg return leg tie staged at Nyayo National Stadium.

The starlets who had lost 2-1 in the first led tie played in Zambia a fortnight ago have now booked a ticket to the final round of the World Cup qualifiers against Tunisia.

From the onset, the Kenyans were in blistering form with Sharon Jepkurui giving the home team the match opener in the 37th minute with a clever volley past Zambia custodian Delly Lumwaya after receiving a nice pass from Mural Auma.

Leading 1-0 at the breather, Kenyan continued to pour forward and Wendy Achieng extended the lead from the spot in the 74th minute after Zambia defender Esther Chama brought down Brigit Butiki in the danger zone.

Encouraged, the home team made it 3-0 on 86 minutes with perhaps the best goal of the afternoon when Neddy Akoth released a long rasping shot from almost 30 yards that beat Lumwaya in the Zambia goal. Auma completed the rout in injury time wrap up an emphatic home win.

The visitors suffered a major blow in the 76th minute when they were reduced to 10 after Ann Chitembeya was red-carded after elbowing Nelly Akoth. — Supersport
