BARCELONA — Pedro says his Barcelona team-mates are confident coach Pep Guardiola will extend his stay with the Spanish and European football champions.

Guardiola is operating on a season-by-season contract at the Nou Camp, with Inter Milan reportedly courting the 41-year-old’s services. Pedro, speaking ahead of Barca’s visit of Gijon today, hopes his instincts prove right regarding Guardiola’s intentions.

“It is clear that we all will stand by his side and support him, we are sure he is going to renew his contract, that he will go on,” he said. “He is a very important person for the club, he knows how it works.

“I think all Barca fans want him as well and I hope he renews as soon as possible.

“As I say, he has the last word. He has to decide, but we need to support him and hope for positive news, of course.” — Reuters
