The number of actors and actresses that passed for roles in Amakhosis new television production, The Nyaminyami Series now stands at 46.

Amakhosi Theatre director Cont Mhlanga told NewsDay the number of actors would however be trimmed to 28 as per production requirements.

We discovered through the auditions some top-of-the-range actors we cannot ignore, said Mhlanga. He said more than has 1 300 people turned up for the auditions as of last week.

He, however, said most of the people who turned up for the auditions were young people under the age of 35.

We are calling out for people over the age of 45 to come over for auditions which will close on Monday (today), he said.

We have roles for people of that age who will represent business people, politicians and leaders. The Nyaminyami Series is the name of a fictitious country that the drama is set in Republic of Nyaminyami.

It depicts the extent of political polarisation, intolerance, violence and their consequences. The series is expected to hit the screens by May this year as four episodes would already have been recorded.

Mhlanga said Amakhosi would also produce DVDs of the series that would be sold to the public even before screening on television resumes.

It will be a four-in-one DVD people would be able to buy from Amakhosi and watch even before The Nyaminyami Series starts screening on ZBC/TV, he said.
