Rising hip-hop and R&B producer Joshua Jae Mac Makoni is set to take the local music industry by storm.

The young producers beats have proved popular with youths and he continues to dazzle music followers with his expertise.

Born in Harare and later moving to the small town of Kwekwe, Jae Mac showed much love for music and by the age of 11 he was already playing a keyboard in church. Since then his biggest dream has been to become a famous artist.

I started writing songs and composing beats, but I decided to stick to beat-making. I made my first beat for a recorded song by a United States-based artist called J Ridiculous before I went on to work with other artists, said Jae Mac.

Jae Mac said in no time he was working with some of the highly acclaimed local hip-hop artists, including producing a track titled Testify by Q Rigga, featuring Germany-based talented MC Metaphysics.

He was also the man behind the hit Shift by Ill Ceey together with Let em Know off his album Legacy. Shift has so far been featured on two different US gospel hip-hop podcasts.

I recently produced a track for Nox Guni titled Iwe Neni and I am also working on another single with him titled Why? which will feature the talented Roki, he said.

The second-year IT communications network student is also working on a song titled Tibatane and the track will feature local talents like Guni, Stunner, Ex-q, Cindy Munyavi and Tererai Mugwadi.

Jae Mac, who aims at attaining international standards, has also worked on a number of remixes of international hits that have been circulating on the Internet, including a track titled What are Words? by Chris Medina, who was part of the top 10 Canadian Idols.

Im inspired by the award-winning Shayzar and DJ Trickx of The Mix Masterz who was a friend of my brothers. We grew up in the same neighbourhood in Kwekwe and their skills always amazed me, he said.

He said the late Siphosenkosi Mkhuhlani, aka TBA, also inspired him as he saw him rise through hard work and passion to emulate international standards. Jae Mac is certainly growing into a force to reckon with.

He hopes to represent Kwekwe on the international scene and emulate other artists from the city who include the late Tongai Dhewa Moyo, Bob Nyabinde, Goodchild, The Mix Masterz (Patrick and Shingirai Zimanyi aka DJ Trickx) and Shayzar.
