Defender Obert Moyo and midfielder Daniel Kamhunenga have been dropped from the Hwange squad that leaves for Zanzibar tomorrow for the Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg against Jamhuri.

Both players were registered for the competition, but no explanation could be obtained last night for their exclusion with manager Tennant Chilumba insisting on making comments on the 18-man squad he named for the trip.

Moyo, though is understood to be on his way to ailing Bulawayo giants Highlanders while Kamunhenga is on his way back to Harare.

Chilumba yesterday said he was happy with the team and was ready for Jamhuri while spokesperson Burzil Dube confirmed the team will be leaving tomorrow afternoon aboard an Ethiopian Airways flight from the Harare International Airport and will arrive in the little island off the coast of Tanzania on Thursday ahead of the Saturday clash.

We will be leaving on Wednesday (tomorrow) from Harare on Ethiopian Airways. We will be leaving Harare in the afternoon but will however arrive in Zanzibar on Thursday, Dube said.

Yesterday, the team trained in the morning after they had an aborted friendly match against Premiership newcomers Quelaton on Saturday. Hwange were leading 1-0 when the match was called off after 20 minutes of the first half due to the heavy downpour.

They started their preparations for the Confederation Cup soon after the festive season, embarking on a training camp in Dete before playing two international friendly matches in South Africa against Absa Premiership champions Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars.

They lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates at Rand Stadium and held Platinum Stars to a goalless draw at Rustenburg Stadium.

After the South African friendly encounters, Hwange beat league champions Dynamos 2-1 in the semi-final of the Bob 88 Super Cup with Zvikumbawire scoring the brace that buried the Glamour Boys at Barbourfields Stadium.

They will meet FC Platinum in the final of the Bob Super Cup before hosting Jamhuri at the Colliery in the return leg of the Confederation Cup on March 3.
