The Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa) is working towards having a more competitive league in the 2012 season.

Bafa, a once-popular league in Bulawayo in the past, has eight teams which held a meeting in the city at the weekend, where they elected a new executive to look for sponsorship and more teams to join the league.

The new executive will be chaired by Cuthbert Mpofu, Charles Chunda is the deputy while Charles Ndlovu becomes the new secretary- general.

Eugene Dube, who was the acting chairman, becomes the new treasurer. Mqamuli Mathuthu and Esau Moyo are the new committee members.

The new guys have been tasked with looking for sponsors for the league and to look for new teams from the corporate world to join us in the league. We currently have eight teams and we are looking at six other teams joining us and we have a competitive league with at least 14 teams.

The main focus is to get more competitive and have teams that are promoted to the Zifa Bulawayo Province leagues, Ndlovu said.
